VinFast Unveils New-Generation VF 8 Electric SUV With Advanced Technology, Enhanced Design and 500 km Driving Range
VinFast has unveiled the new-generation VF 8 electric SUV featuring advanced Software Defined Vehicle architecture, Integrated Thermal Management technology, upgraded safety systems, 500 km driving range and fast-charging capability. The electric SUV will begin accepting pre-orders in Vietnam from May 27, 2026, with deliveries expected in late July.
VinFast announced that pre-orders for the new-generation VF 8 in Vietnam will officially begin on May 27, 2026, through the company’s authorized dealer network and official sales channels nationwide. The first deliveries of the upgraded electric SUV are expected to commence in late July 2026.
Developed under VinFast’s “Tech Fluid” design philosophy, the new-generation VF 8 integrates technology into both the vehicle’s visual identity and everyday usability. The SUV has been designed to emphasize seamlessness, refinement and motion, giving it a modern and dynamic appearance aligned with contemporary lifestyle preferences.
The vehicle measures 4,701 mm in length, 1,872 mm in width and 1,670 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,840 mm and a five-seat configuration designed to maximize cabin space and passenger comfort. The SUV features a ground clearance of 170 mm and rides on 19-inch wheels, enabling it to adapt to varying driving conditions with greater flexibility.
At the front, the new-generation VF 8 adopts a modern styling approach with a wide gloss-black grille paired with VinFast’s signature wing-shaped daytime running lights. Large air intakes integrated into the front bumper improve aerodynamic efficiency while adding visual depth to the overall exterior profile.
The side profile of the SUV features an upward-rising window line toward the rear, creating a sense of movement even when stationary. Smooth transitions across the door panels and sharply defined character lines generate changing reflections as the vehicle moves, enhancing its premium appearance.
At the rear, the SUV follows a minimalist design approach highlighted by large taillights integrated with VinFast’s signature V-shaped LED strip. The updated rear design contributes to aerodynamic performance while giving the vehicle a younger and more dynamic identity.
Inside the cabin, the new-generation VF 8 features an ergonomic and intuitive layout centered around a 12.9-inch infotainment display integrating most vehicle controls into a user-friendly interface. A secondary display positioned behind the steering wheel provides essential driving information, while the steering-column-mounted gear selector has been designed for easier operation.
The electric SUV is equipped with dual-zone automatic climate control, integrated air ionization and a Combi 1.0 air filtration system to enhance passenger comfort. The sport-inspired ergonomic seats include a six-way power-adjustable driver’s seat with memory function. The second-row seats can recline and fold flat in a 60:40 split configuration to increase cargo space when required.
VinFast has also integrated a virtual assistant supporting multiple Vietnamese dialects, along with an eight-speaker audio system aimed at improving in-car entertainment and convenience.
In terms of driving dynamics, the new-generation VF 8 has been built on a newly developed chassis platform equipped with Frequency Selective Dampers on both front and rear axles. The suspension system can automatically adjust damping characteristics according to road conditions, reducing vibrations on rough surfaces while maintaining stability at higher speeds.
The SUV also introduces a new electrical and electronic architecture developed using the Software Defined Vehicle approach. According to VinFast, the system architecture and control software were designed entirely by the company’s engineering team, reflecting its in-house capability to develop core automotive technologies. At the center of the system is the Central Vehicle Computer, responsible for managing data processing and vehicle control functions to deliver quicker and smoother responses to driver inputs.
Powering the new-generation VF 8 is an electric motor producing a maximum output of 170 kW, equivalent to 228 horsepower, and peak torque of 330 Nm. The motor is paired with a front-wheel-drive configuration and offers three driving modes — Eco, Normal and Sport.
The electric SUV is equipped with a 60.13 kWh battery pack capable of delivering a driving range of up to 500 km on a full charge under NEDC testing standards. The vehicle also supports fast charging technology, allowing the battery to charge from 10 percent to 70 percent in less than 30 minutes.
A major technological highlight of the new-generation VF 8 is the Integrated Thermal Management system independently researched, developed and patented by VinFast. The system simultaneously manages cooling and heating functions for the battery, electric motor, electrical systems and cabin climate control. VinFast stated that the technology helps maintain stable performance, improve energy efficiency, support fast charging and enhance battery and motor durability while preserving passenger comfort under varying weather conditions.
On the safety front, the new-generation VF 8 comes equipped with a comprehensive Advanced Driver Assistance System featuring Highway Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Keeping Assist, Blind Spot Warning and a high-definition 360-degree camera system. VinFast stated that the chassis structure and ADAS technologies were developed with the objective of achieving ASEAN NCAP 5-star safety standards.
The new-generation VF 8 has been priced at VND 999 million in Vietnam. VinFast is offering a warranty of seven years or 160,000 km for the vehicle and eight years or 160,000 km for the battery, whichever comes first.
The launch of the upgraded VF 8 comes as VinFast accelerates its global expansion strategy. The company, listed on NASDAQ under the ticker VFS and operating as a subsidiary of Vingroup JSC, has expanded its electric mobility portfolio to include electric SUVs, electric scooters and electric buses. VinFast is also increasing its manufacturing footprint with facilities in Vietnam, India and planned operations in the United States.
In India, VinFast’s Thoothukudi manufacturing facility in Tamil Nadu represents an investment of $500 million and is expected to produce 150,000 vehicles annually upon reaching full operational capacity. The project is also expected to generate approximately 3,500 direct jobs, strengthening the company’s long-term manufacturing presence in the country.
The unveiling of the new-generation VF 8 reflects VinFast’s aggressive push into the global electric vehicle market, combining in-house technological development, advanced safety systems and premium design features as competition intensifies in the rapidly expanding electric SUV segment.
